Belfast.  Join us for the Maine Mother Daughter Project:  A Conference for Women on Cultivating Strong Bonds with Our Daughters on Friday, October 26th from 5:00 to 9:30 pm at the University of Maine Hutchinson Center, 80 Belmont Avenue (Route 3), Belfast.

The Conference will begin with a keynote address from Dr. Lyn Mikel Brown, Professor of Education at Colby College, co-author of Packaging Girlhood:  Rescuing Our Daughter’s From Marketers’ Schemes, and co-founder of the organization Hardy Girls Healthy Women.

Following the keynote, we will hear from a panel of mothers and adult daughters who will share their stories and experiences with the audience.  Conference participants will then have an opportunity to meet other mothers and get involved in creating their own mother-daughter groups.

There is no charge to attend the Conference and it is open to all women raising girls.  This project is supported by the Maine Humanities Council, the University of Maine Hutchinson Center, Department of Sociology, and Women’s Studies Program.
