Addressing Edgecomb’s goals

Mon, 05/07/2018 - 6:30pm

    Dear Editor:

As many of you are aware I have had a serious back injury and been in long-term rehabilitation since February. At this point, however, being “away” has given me the opportunity to see the tremendous work, energy and commitment given by the designated workers of Edgecomb.

It is an honor to be part of such a group committed to enhancing its goals, programs and philosophy of the Edgecomb community. My thanks to the selectmen, Ted Hugger and Mike Smith, treasurer, tax collector, budget committee, fire chief, school committee and other committee chairs of their commitment to hold down and support the best fiscal budget for the coming year.

It is a good time to talk about and develop a serious dialogue that will meet the needs of this coming year: a new fire truck, the ambulance contract and various budgets as submitted.

The town warrant allows for this opportunity in Article 14, to debate, dialogue and consider the various aspects of the warrant.

I believe it is a perfect time to initiate a capital expenditure committee and to talk about the potential additional opportunities of funding that can be under consideration, i.e. TIF funds, Lallis properties, other possibilities open to the town. This year will allow the opportunity to plan and put together the potential to enhance the serious needs of our fire department and emergency services.

I urge you to attend this town meeting so that we may discuss and develop the policies that will answer the needs of Edgecomb.

    Jack Sarmanian

    Chairman

    Edgecomb Board of Selectman
