Alna railway museum plans ice cream social

Tue, 08/22/2017 - 7:30am

An old-fashioned ice cream social will be held at the Wiscasset Waterville & Farmington Railway Museum on Saturday, Aug. 26, featuring locally produced ice cream and lawn games at Alna Center station, which is reached by train.

The museum, just off Route 218 and 10 minutes north of Wiscasset, has been holding its popular ice cream socials several years. Trains will depart from Sheepscot Station at 97 Cross Road beginning at 10:30 a.m., with ice cream available from noon onward. The last train leaves Sheepscot Station at 3 p.m. The rain date is Sunday, Aug. 27.

A registered nonprofit, the museum is dedicated to preserving and teaching the transportation heritage of Maine's Sheepscot River valley. The railway is maintained and operated entirely by volunteers, and we welcome others to join us in rebuilding Maine history.
