Sat, 02/10/2018 - 8:45am

Let’s help the birds weather the end of winter, and prepare for nesting season! The birds will appreciate it, and you can enjoy their company. Proceeds from this fundraiser help your local Audubon chapter provide many free educational programs throughout the year.

Choose from these tasty varieties of seed to keep your birds well fed this winter: Sunflower meaties (hulled) $26 for 25 pounds, $45 for 50 pounds; Black oil sunflower seed $16 for 20 pounds, $29 for 40 pounds; Thistle (Nyger) $10 per 5 pounds; and suet, $2 each.

Orders must be placed no later than Feb. 16. Send a check made out to Mid-Coast Audubon to “Seedsale Sue,” 12 Audubon Rd, Bremen, ME 04551. (You will receive confirmation – if you don’t hear back by Feb. 23, please send an email.) For more information, email SEEDSALE SUE sschubel@audubon.org, subject BIRDSEED. Pre-ordered seed will be available for pick up at Plants Unlimited, Route 1 in Rockport on Saturday, March 3, 10 a.m. to noon.

Mid-Coast Audubon members live from Edgecomb to Belfast, and inland to Augusta. Every month, MCAS sponsors an evening program at the Camden Public Library. There are numerous field trips to see birds and learn about the natural history of Maine. Come be part of the fun and learning – visit www.midcoast.maineaudubon.org for more information.
