The Coastal Humane Society is teaming up with Petco of Topsham for “ALL FOR SAVING LIVES,” a mega adoption weekend on Sept. 9 and 10 at the Topsham store at the Topsham Fair Mall. Dozens of puppies, kittens, adult dogs and cats will be up for adoption and awaiting their forever homes beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. on Sunday. The event will close at 3 p.m. both days.

“ALL FOR SAVING LIVES” is a national adoption event organized by Petco to save lives in shelters all across the country. The Petco Foundation will make an additional donation to Coastal Humane Society for every adoption during the two-day event. The shelter’s goal is to place more than 65 animals into forever loving homes throughout the weekend.

This is the eighth large-scale adoption event between the partnering organizations. In one similar event, the shelter found homes for over 70 animals.

Kate Griffith is the programs and events director for Coastal Humane Society and Lincoln County Animal Shelter.

"This adoption event is a wonderful opportunity for animals who once faced an uncertain future in Mississippi to find their new happy homes with loving families in Maine. Now is a great time to adopt, not only will you be saving a life, but adopters help secure a small grant for the organization to keep saving more lives,” said Griffith
“Through our partnerships with Southern shelters facing major overpopulation issues, and with Petco’s help, we are able to rewrite the future for these animals,” continued Griffith.

In addition to having animals from Mississippi, the shelter will also seek homes for local adoptable animals that are in need.

“These animals have come to the shelter for a variety of reasons through no fault of their own, and are waiting patiently for their new families to find them,” noted Griffith.

Sneak peeks of the animals that will be available for adoption will be posted on the shelter’s Facebook page the week prior to the event. See them at www.Facebook.com/coastalhumanesociety or on the shelter website at www.coastalhumanesociety.org. Call 725-5051 with questions.
