Benefit for Pagurko family Sept. 29 in Damariscotta

Tue, 09/19/2017 - 7:15am

Ever since the Pagurko family of Whitefield escaped a fire that destroyed their 1850s farmhouse Sept. 3, the local community has been responding to their needs to help them move on.

GoFundMe sites have been raising funds in support of the family's needs as well as in support of the construction of a new home.  To donate, please visit either the Help the Pagurko Family Fund (https://www.gofundme.com/help-the-pagurko-family) or the Pagurko House Fire Fund (https://www.gofundme.com/pagurko-house-fire-fund).

A Pagurko Family Benefit is taking place Sept. 29 from 5:30 to 9 p.m. at the Lakehurst Lodge at 30 Lakehurst Lane in Damariscotta. The event will bring the community together for a lovely evening of dinner and dancing for a suggested donation of $5 per person or $20 per family.

The event will feature a delicious, homemade pasta dinner, live music by Esther-M, a raffle and silent auction.  There will also be a dessert potluck.

Dancers and singers are welcome to perform a short piece to share the love for the Pagurko family.  Through Dance Maineia, Melanie Pagurko has been teaching dance in midcoast Maine for over 30 years.  Many children and adults have experienced the joy of movement thanks to her passion and desire to teach students of all ages and abilities in a positive setting.

The Pinkham family has generously donated the space for the event and many community members and businesses have also contributed — too many to list and all equally appreciated.  The Pagurko family has been overwhelmed by the support they have received and would like to thank everyone who is helping their family.

To donate to the Pagurko Family Benefit or to volunteer at the event, please contact Tanya Albert at tanyaalbert@msn.com or 207-841-2704.  There is a also a Facebook group, Love for the Pagurko Family, providing updates as more needs arise and providing information on the upcoming benefit, in the Faceboook group’s events section.
