Boothbay Charities Classic ready for 27th year

Proceeds to benefit Special Olympics Maine

Local and nationally known sports legends and Hall of Famers are making arrangements to meet in Boothbay for the 27th annual Boothbay Charities Classic Golf Tournament, Lobster Bake, and Sports Auction. September 22 and 23 mark the dates for this exciting event and all proceeds will go to benefit Special Olympics Maine. Whether it’s football, baseball, hockey, racing or golf, we will likely have something for the sports fan in you.\

The festivities will kick off on Friday afternoon at the Boothbay Railway Village with a New England Lobster and Clam Bake. All participating celebrities of the tournament will be present at the bake, as well as in attendance during the Live Sports Auction that will take place immediately following dinner. Public is welcome to purchase tickets to Lobster Bake and Auction by contacting Brenda Blackman at 207-380-7770.

A silent sports auction will be available for public viewing and bidding from 4 through 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 22 at the Railway Village. (Results will be announced later that evening) All fans are welcome! The Lobster Bake will take place under the Big Top Tent at the Railway Village on Friday afternoon, beginning 4. Take this wonderful opportunity to met celebrities and bring home some one of a kind sports memorabilia to adorn your trophy case, with all proceeds to benefit Special Olympics Maine.

Celebrities attending the 2017 tournament will include, but are not limited to: Rick Volk and Dan Sullivan of the Baltimore Colts, Oakland Raider Otis Sistrunk and Ted Hendricks, Red Sox pitcher Bill “Spaceman” Lee, Elvin Bethea of the Houston Oilers and many more! A few auction items to look for include a specialty package including one week stay at the Whitton House with daily tee times for four and an entry of a foursome into the 2018 BCC tournament, an autographed Fergeson Jenkins baseball, a game worn Rafael Devers jersey and a game worn Yoan Moncada jersey, and much more. Special Olympics Maine is a year round sports training and competition program for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.
