The DaPonte String Quartet, Lydia Forbes, violin; Kirsten Monke, viola; Ferdinand Liva, violin; and Myles Jordan, cello; will present its first concert series of 2024 on Sunday, Feb. 4, 7, 8, 9 and 10 featuring Beethoven, Arensky and Francaix. This concert promises an enchanting journey through the genius of these three composers, leaving audiences moved and inspired. Join us for an unforgettable night of classical mastery.

The program will showcase the timeless beauty and brilliance of Beethoven's String Trio in D major, inviting audiences to immerse themselves in the composer's profound musical expressions. The performance will also feature the exquisite Francaix String Trio, known for its delightful blend of lyricism and playfulness, offering a unique and charming experience for listeners. Adding to the rich tapestry of the program, the ensemble will present Arensky's Quartet for violin, viola, and two cellos, a work celebrated for its emotional depth and intricate interplay among instruments.

Guest cellist Fred Edelen will join the Quartet for this first concert series. Edelen (https://duoedelen.com) performs throughout the U.S. and Europe on both modern and Baroque cello as orchestral cellist, chamber musician, and recitalist. Formerly Assistant Solo Cellist of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, he was also a member of the Houston Symphony and Principal Cellist of the San Antonio Symphony. Described as a “masterful soloist” with “astonishingly expressive style and gorgeous tone,” he has appeared as soloist with the Phoenix Symphony, the San Antonio symphony, and the Concertgebouw Chamber Orchestra.

The concert series continues - Sunday, Feb. 4 at 2 p.m. in Boothbay Harbor at St. Columba’s Episcopal Church, 32 Emery Lane;  Wednesday, Feb. 7 at 7 p.m. at Union Hall in Rockport at 24 Central St.; Thursday, Feb. 8 at 7 p.m. at the Jewish Community Alliance, 1342 Congress St., Portland; Friday, Feb. 9 at 7 p.m. at Nordica Hall, Merrill Hall, UMaine Farmington; and on Saturday, Feb. 10, 2 p.m., at Lemont Hall, 2 Pleasant St., Brunswick.
