River Arts in Damariscotta is inviting the public to the opening celebration for its newest exhibition, Faces and Figures from 5-7 p.m., Friday, Feb. 17.

The gallery is full of life in 60 artists' interpretations of people and animals in a multitude of methods from realism to abstract.  Surprising gestures and colorful forms will delight you -  Noah's Ark, dancing figures, mysterious faces, undersea creatures, contemplative portraits, and luxurious nudes are among the 140 characters you will meet. 

The exhibition will run through March 10.  River Arts, located at 241 U.S. Route 1, is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and on Sundays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Closed Mondays. River Arts
