Gary D. Driver Sr.

Gary Dean Driver Sr. of Boothbay died peacefully on June 24, 2017.

He was born on July 7, 1935 in Long Beach, California. He grew up in the Belmont Shores area of Long Beach where he attended Woodrow Wilson High School, and graduated from the University of Southern California in 1957.

After graduation, he joined the Navy where he achieved the rank of lieutenant, and later joined the Naval Reserves. He married Patricia Jean Anderson of Anaheim, California on July 26, 1958. He went to work in Los Angeles, California for Manufactures Life Insurance Co. based in Toronto, Canada. As a hobby, he did modeling work for I. Magnin Christmas catalogue, GQ magazine and several other print ads. In July of 1970 Gary moved his family from San Marino, California to Solana Beach, California to work for the Charles K. Fletcher Insurance Company in San Diego.

In 1974, he moved his family to Rancho Santa Fe, California and not long after, switched careers and went to work as a broker for Watt Industries and Fairbank Ranch Realty. He enjoyed a long and successful career in San Diego, helping establish communities including Fairbanks Ranch, Summer walk for California Pacific Homes, Cielo in Rancho Santa Fe and the Hotel Del Coronado as well as with Coldwell Banker.

He looked forward each January to celebrate the birthday of Robert E. Lee at Convivium for USC KA Order fraternity and to be with his beloved fraternity brothers.

Gary loved being around people and especially loved helping clients choose their dream home site to build their home. Charming and handsome, everyone who knew him will always remember him as the nicest guy to be around.

Gary is survived by his wife of 59 years Patricia; his daughter Lory; his grandson Gabriel; his son Gary Jr.; his sister Pat and her partner Vicki.
