Haddock chowder supper at St. Philip’s Aug. 14

Tue, 08/08/2017 - 7:15am

Rounding out the summer’s Steeple Fundraising suppers, St. Philip’s Church, 12 Hodge St., Wiscasset, will host its third and final dinner on Monday, Aug. 14, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Haddock chowder is on the menu for the culminating event. As with the previous two suppers, the charge is by donation, with all funds being applied toward the repairs to the lovely and historic spire that graces the skyline of Wiscasset.

The menu includes a freshly made, steaming bowl of fresh haddock chowder; tossed, pasta, and bean salads; biscuits, corn and French breads; a dessert table replete with many mouth watering homemade cakes, pies, cookies, and such; rounded out with a choice of beverage. Vegan hot dogs and vegetable soup are also available for non-chowder consuming family members.

The Bargain Basement, housed in the cellar of the church complex, is a year-round favorite of those seeking good deals on clothes for the family, housewares,  collectibles, and books. Importantly, it is also a place where people experiencing emergencies such as a house fire can fit themselves out for little or no money. Before or after the delectable meal, check out what treasures may await.

So feel virtuous while consuming a scrumptious meal of St. Philip’s ‘world famous’ chowder and fixings, knowing that one’s contribution is helping the spire continue to be part of Wiscasset for many years to come.
