Inn Along the Way suggests two ways to banish winter blahs

Tue, 01/09/2018 - 8:15am

This Monday, Jan. 15, join fellow Inn Along the Way supporters for lunch or dinner at the Harbor Room, located at 2477 Bristol Road in New Harbor. As part of its “Make Mondays Matter” program, the Harbor Room will donate ten percent of the day’s proceeds to Inn Along the Way, making your meal a chance to not only share the camaraderie of going out for lunch or dinner but also an opportunity to support a local nonprofit organization. Gather a group of friends and head to New Harbor for good food, good company, and a chance to do good.

In another opportunity to make connections, Inn Along the Way offers a series of Saturday morning gatherings for family caregivers. Saturday, Jan. 13, from 10 a.m. to noon, is the first Winter Community Circle, an opportunity for caregivers to gather, share stories, and build individual and collective strength by honoring the vital work that they are doing at home, in the community, and with one another. Coffee, tea, and snacks will be provided, but you are welcome to bring whatever you might need in addition. The Winter Community Circle series continues on Jan. 27, Feb. 10 and 24, and March 10 and 24. There is no charge, and you are invited to add light, warmth, and company to your winter days by joining the circle for a day or for the entire series. For more information, please call Sherry at 207-751-6261.

Community Circles at Inn Along the Way offer individuals a safe space for sharing, companionship, and support within a diverse and growing interdependent community. Inn Along the Way is a nonprofit organization in the process of creating a collaborative community offering older adults, and those seeking temporary relief from the responsibilities of caregiving, an environment of support, purpose, and sustainability in a multigenerational and mutually interdependent setting. The organization is currently raising funds to complete its first phase, which will transform the original farmhouse into a small inn with a café and community rooms, offering overnight accommodations to the general public, as well as those seeking respite.
