‘Round Town

The region is perking up. More people are moving around. Delivery trucks are dropping off inventory and out of state vehicles zip along through town checking things out.

Opera House seasonal activities are starting to ramp up a bit now, too. New names and shows visit as Opera House staff continues to introduce migrating entertainers on their way through New England.

Kevin Kiley, who has worked off and on, and now full-time at the Opera House, senses the new pace as well.

Like many of us who live here year-round, the pulse of spring brings new awareness to the number of hours in a day. As we emerge from winter, our bodies and minds must adjust to the longer and fuller day. Some times, generally about now, the new season's pace begins to slap us about the face — prepare to launch.

Kevin has been part of our family since the late ’70s. Affectionately known as “Unka” to our children, he grew up with them, and us.

Now, with his seasonal delivery of super jet fuel on its way, he is assigning new time slots to an already packed agenda. But music, as always, surrounds him, and life at the piano is key!

Kevin keeps music close. He teaches piano, accompanies Sundays with the Unitarians, and entertains evenings, when possible, at the Boothbay Harbor Inn. He also has a portable keyboard that travels to weddings, luncheons and private events.

I'm not sure if he sleeps with a piano, but he has shared piano dreams with us.

Kevin has bonded with the new and wonderful Opera House piano and they are best friends. Watch the Opera House “Marquee” for performances coming to your town this season. In the meantime, keep those cards and letters coming, and take your vitamins.
