Landon L. Oliver

Landon L. “Lanny” Oliver, 81, died peacefully Feb. 9, 2018 with his family by his side at  Lincoln Health - Miles Hospital in Damariscotta.  Lanny was born on July 17, 1936 in Damariscotta Mills to William and Minnie Reeves Oliver.  He grew up in Damariscotta Mills and graduated from Lincoln Academy in the class of 1954.  He attended the University of Maine at Augusta.

Lanny was very active in sports, and he excelled as a pitcher for the Waldoboro town team and the Damariscotta “Red Legs” team.  He also enjoyed golf.  Lanny was a member of Wawenock Country Club in Walpole, and at one time served as president of the board.  He was also part of a group that was instrumental in helping resurrect the club house. He always enjoyed sitting on the porch at the club watching golfers come off the eighteenth hole, and to enjoy their company after playing. He also enjoyed watching basketball games at Lincoln Academy.

He began his work life at Sample’s Shipyard in Boothbay Harbor. He worked for Central Maine Power for 21 years beginning as a lineman and retiring as a field planner in 1995.

Lanny was always happy, and enjoyed walking, playing golf, traveling and reading.  He was so proud of his family, especially his grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his sister, Katherine Emerson, and by a brother, William Reeves.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Joanne Leeman Oliver of Walpole; daughters, Brenda Feltis and her husband Chris of Bristol and LeeAnn Sullivan and her husband Daniel of West Springfield, Massachusetts; grandchildren, Ryan Feltis of Walpole, Kyle Feltis and his wife Allyson of Brunswick, Ashley Sullivan of Agawam, Massachusetts, Andrew Sullivan and his wife Amanda of Palmer, Massachusetts, and Zachary Sullivan of Kapolei, Hawaii; great-grandchildren, Annika Feltis of Brunswick, Aubrey and Parker Feltis of Brunswick; and brother, Malcolm Oliver and his wife Beth of Jefferson.

Friends are welcome to join the family for a time of visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Feb. 15 at the Hall Funeral Home, 975 Wiscasset Road in Boothbay. A service to celebrate Lanny’s life will be held 11 a.m. Feb. 16 at the Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Newell officiating. A reception will follow the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in the spring.
