A boy who attends Lincoln Academy in Newcastle has been charged with terrorizing, a Class D misdemeanor, after he allegedly made threating comments to other students during school on Thursday Feb. 15.

Lincoln Academy faculty learned of the incident on Friday and then notified School Resource Officer Deputy Chad Gilbert, who investigated the report with help from Lt. Brendan Kane.

Several interviews were conducted and investigators met that evening with the boy and his mother. The boy was issued a juvenile summons charging him with terrorizing. He remains in the custody of his parents.

With all  interviews completed, investigators believe the student was unlikely to act on his alleged threat.

While there appears to be no further cause for concern in this matter, it is the policy of the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office to investigate all complaints of this nature and pursue all suspects without delay.
