For the last 30 years, Cindy Coyne, RN, has worn many hats throughout LincolnHealth: director of nursing at Cove’s Edge, executive director of Chase Point, Care Partners manager, manager of Case Management and Social Services, and for the last decade, director of Quality, Patient Safety and Patient Advocacy. What has remained constant throughout the years is her unparalleled commitment to LincolnHealth’s patients, residents, staff, and community.

“Cindy is an enthusiastic leader who goes the extra mile for the ultimate good of the patients, families, and staff,” said LincolnHealth Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Cindy Wade, RN. “She comes to work each day with a goal to perform the best job she possibly can and to improve the quality and safety of the care we give.”

To recognize Coyne for her dedication, Coyne is the 2017 recipient of the Webster and Elise Van Winkle Excellence in Healthcare Award. Webster Van Winkle believed LincolnHealth’s greatest assets were its employees, and created this annual award to recognize employees who made significant contributions to the organization and their department above and beyond the call of duty.

“I know Web would agree that Cindy exemplifies the true meaning of this award,” said Wade. “Not only is Cindy a go-to person at LincolnHealth, she is throughout the MaineHealth system. Her colleagues look to her for her leadership, experience, expertise, and excellence.”

“I have the upmost respect for Web,” said Coyne. “It is such an honor to receive this award in his name. He truly believed in our hospital and in our community.”

To Coyne, this award is about more than just one person, but about how that one person works with everybody at LincolnHealth for the best interest of the patients and staff.

“While I may be the recipient, it is really about everybody that I have had an opportunity to work with” said Coyne. The organization is only as strong as each piece, she explained.

Coyne and her team works closely with departments throughout the organization, patients and their families, and community members to continuously improve patient and resident experiences. She listens intently to each and every concern, and strives to improve situations no matter the circumstances.

“LincolnHealth is like a family” said Coyne. “I believe it is a privilege to work and live in this community. I love being able to give back to the organization and people who have taken such good care of my family and myself.”
