Mindful Technology Use Workshop for Families March 27

Thu, 03/15/2018 - 8:15am

When mindfully engaged with technology like computers and smartphones, we have incredible access to information and one another. However, when not approached with discipline, they can snap up our attention and have a negative impact on our well-being. Young people can be especially susceptible to the draw of mobile technology.

To help parents and guardians in Lincoln County have a better grasp on their family’s use of technology, LincolnHealth’s Coulombe Center for Health Improvement is sponsoring a free Mindful Technology Use Workshop on Tuesday, March 27 at 5:30 p.m. at Great Salt Bay Community School in Damariscotta. The program, which is cosponsored in partnership with Great Salt Bay Community School and Wise Minds. Big Hearts., is open to all parents and guardians in Lincoln County. Children over the age of 10 are welcome to attend with their parent(s)/guardian(s). Snacks will be provided.

With more than 15 years of experience working with young people as a mindfulness educator, classroom teacher, and outdoor educator, the workshop will be facilitated by Wise Minds. Big Hearts. Founder Erica Marcus, MAT.

Participants will gain an understanding of how to manage their technology use, and support intentional technology use in their families, rather than be controlled by it.

This workshop is part of The Coulombe Center for Health Improvement’s ongoing efforts to build resiliency in our youth in the greater Boothbay region and throughout Lincoln County.
