“Twelfth Night” and “Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead” by Tom Stoppard, performed by the National Theater Live, will be onscreen at the Lincoln Theater in April. Nobody does The Bard better than Brits, and these two productions are brilliant and guaranteed to relieve you of those annoying symptoms of Shakespeare Disaffection Syndrome (SDS) - the scientific name for your problem.

And you’re in luck because the Lincoln Theater’s SDS treatment regimen starts with NT Live’s production of “Twelfth Night,” one of Shakespeare’s most endearing and delightful comedies on  Thursday April 6 at 2 and 7 p.m.  Full of gender bending, mistaken identity, characters falling in love with the wrong people ... unrequited love; there’s even a character named Sir Toby Belch. Old Will could be bawdy, and “Twelfth Night” is a ton of naughty, passionate fun.

And the second offering isn’t even by  Shakespeare! “Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead” was written by the modern British playwright, Tom Stoppard,  known for his scathing wit and ingenious plotting. He’s taken two of the minor characters from “Hamlet” and turned them into an Abbott and Costello-like pair, and the characters and action of Hamlet are seen from their perspective. One of the stars is Daniel Radcliffe (a.k.a. Harry Potter). You might want to skim through a synopsis of “Hamlet” before heading to the theater Thursday, April 20 for the 2 p.m. or 7 p.m. show. Reviewing for The Times, Ann Treneman wrote, “Radcliffe and McGuire bounce off each other like Spacehoppers on a day out!”

Tickets ($15 Adult, $13 LT Members, $5 Youth 18 and under) are available in advance through the Lincoln Theater office at 207-563-3424 or on the day of the performance starting one hour before show time.  For additional information, visit the theater's website at www.lcct.org.
