Open reading of ‘Down Along the Cove’ at Heartwood

Tue, 05/23/2017 - 9:45am
“Down Along the Cove,” a new work in progress by Heartwood Theater Artistic Director Griff Braley  will be presented as an open reading on June 7 at 7 p.m. in the ATEC Building at Lincoln Academy.  Free admission, with a brief talk back session with audience, readers and director, to follow.

Set in Midcoast Maine, during the late 20th century, “Down Along the Cove” explores the relationships of family, friends and neighbors riding the waves of the late 1980s into the 21st century.  Based on a collection of 16 short stories, the vignette driven play is written for seven actors, who portray 30 roles.  The interconnection of the ensemble mirrors that of the relationships they explore, with humor and sensitivity.

Readers include Millie Santiago, Mary Boothby, Nanette Fraser, Jason Laptewicz, Tyson Bailey, Stephen Wallace and Griff Braley.

“Down Along the Cove” is being considered for full production in Heartwood’s upcoming season, and the public is welcome to participate in this step along the way.

Directions: From downtown Newcastle, proceed past the Poe Theater, on Academy Hill Road, on the right and take a right on the inlet road, just past the gym.  Down the hill, along the end of the new turf field – the ATEC is the last building on the left.  Parking is available in the lower lots by the ATEC.
