St. Philips Church in Wiscasset hosted its first Paint Party on Friday, May 11 to benefit the Feed Our Scholars Backpack Program.

“We are going to eat many fine desserts and paint our fingers off,” said organizer Gretchen Burleigh-Johnson.

Sue Begin of Cre8tive Events of Augusta directed a packed house in creating an acrylic painting from a predesigned landscape. “People get to experience art and enjoy other people’s company,” said Begin.

Angela Rivera of Brunswick and Nancy Bloodgood from Florida came to try their hands at painting. “I can pretend I am an artist tonight,” Rivera said.

Letitia Munson brought some art experience to the event. She paints scenery for the Heartwood Regional Theater in Newcastle. Diane Davis of Wiscasset said she was very excited with the prospect of painting a landscape of her own.

“We support Feed our Scholars,” said Linda Adams.  Matt O’Donnell provided background music.
