On Sunday, Nov. 12, seven Wiscasset Municipal Airport pilots and an airplane mechanic showed up with chainsaws in hand to help airport neighbor Maureen Wilkinson clean up after the Oct. 29-30 storm downed a number of trees on her property. Wilkinson lives across the street from the airport on Chewonki Neck Road.

An elated Wilkinson said, “You guys just saved me a small fortune in cleanup costs.”

Pilots Dave Hewitt of Damariscotta, Andy Rice of Woolwich, Bryan Buck of Wiscasset, Steve Williams and Lisa Reece of Georgetown, Chuck Kincer of Richmond and Jenny Jorgensen of West Bath and airplane mechanic Mike Muchmore of Westport Island worked all morning clearing and cutting the downed trees, including a massive willow and many large pines that fell onto neighboring property.

The downed trees caused no major structural damage, but took out a birdbath, a garden swing and a number of garden gnomes.  At Wilkinson’s request, the crew was able to save and carefully cut out a small tree fairy statue the willow tree had enveloped over the years.
