A question about a question

    Dear Editor:

Question 3 asks Mainers whether they would like to have the government buy out the state’s existing utilities thereby creating a new company run by a board of politicians with no utility experience. The cost for this endeavor is projected at $13.5 billion for which the ratepayers would ultimately be responsible.

So the question is: Why would Maine taxpayers want to have a government owned and controlled utility costing up to $13.5 billion in new debt that would then have to be repaid through higher electric bills and higher taxes?
