River Arts’ ‘Artists’ Choice’ opens Oct. 27

River Arts invites the public to the opening reception for its exhibition, “Artists’ Choice,” Friday, Oct. 27 from 5-7 p.m. The Artists' Choice Show displays over 100 exceptional works of originality including a sculpted encaustic rooster, fine folk art, watercolor virtuosity, imaginative assemblage pieces, fanciful landscapes and dynamic abstractions. The exhibition will hang through Nov. 24.

The juror of this show is Diana (Dinny) Kerr of East Boothbay. She managed the contemporary gallery at Barridoff galleries in Portland, was an art consultant at the Gallery House in Nobleboro, in 1991, followed by eight years as a curator and co-manager of the Firehouse Gallery in Damariscotta.  

For the past nine years, Diana has been the administrative assistant to the director of Gleason Fine Arts in Boothbay Harbor, directing the sales of contemporary art. With over 40 years experience in curating and administration of sales in several art galleries, Diana has also been involved with nonprofit organizations including River Arts, directing the workshops and educational programs for two years. 

Local artists in the Boothbay Register/Wiscasset Newspaper are John Butke, Boothbay; Sally Smith, East Boothbay; Virginia Forrest and Jessica Lowell, Wiscasset; Sandra Griffin, Edgecomb; Elizabeth Palmer, Nobleboro; Helen Warner, Newcastle; Christine Andersen, Frieda Hanlon, Hannah Ineson, Denise Rankin, Jessica Sirois and Polly Steadman from Damariscotta.

River Arts, located at 241 U.S. Route 1,  is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sundays 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Closed Mondays.
