Sharing of “finished” genealogy projects Feb. 8 to be first event of Genealogy Club’s February schedule

Sun, 01/21/2018 - 7:00am

Skidompha Public Library in Damariscotta hosts several meetings each month of the Genealogy Club, which meets at the library on Main Street, and welcomes family history researchers of all levels of expertise. February will be a busy month with many opportunities planned for those with an interest in genealogy.

February’s initial Genealogy Club gathering is the quarterly roundtable event in which participants are encouraged to share from their own experiences; this meeting’s focus is on sharing a “finished” genealogy project. Genealogy researchers tend to love the detective work of gathering family history records, dates, and other information, but many are less diligent at creating engaging, informative, and lasting family histories. This project might be about a single ancestor, a set of parents and children, or multiple generations and might take the form of a simple one-sheet biography of an ancestor, or a PowerPoint presentation, Shutterfly book, annotated photo album, self-published book, a timeline, binder, map, or other creation. The goal of this event is to inspire and encourage one another! This daytime meeting will be held in the first floor Porter Meeting Hall on Thursday, Feb. 8, 12:30-2 p.m. Please note that this is a date change from the last news release.

Four additional February meetings are planned; More information about the resources and the opportunities at the Genealogy department can be found on Skidompha’s website www.skidompha.org genealogy tab, joining the Skidompha Happenings email list, or by liking the Skidompha Library Genealogy Facebook page.
