Sheepscot Valley Chorus welcomes new singers
New season rehearsals began Jan. 17 – still room for more voices!

Sheepscot Chorus is heading into its winter and spring season, with rehearsals starting on Tuesday, Jan. 17 and continuing every Tuesday night at 7 in the fellowship hall of the First Congregational Church in Wiscasset. New singers are warmly encouraged to come. There are no auditions for the group, nor is the ability to read music a requirement, although it helps. The group is led by director Linda Blanchard and accompanist Sean Fleming.
The two major works for the concerts on April 29 and 30 will be "Ellingtonia" and Dan Forrest's "Requiem for the Living." The first is a medley of songs by Duke Ellington, including such classics as "It Don't Mean a Thing If it Ain't Got That Swing" and "Take the A Train." "Requiem for the Living," composed just four years ago, has already been performed hundreds of times and on five continents. Composed for choir, orchestra, and boy soprano and tenor soloists, the piece has moved audiences worldwide with its expressions of the pain and beauty of being human.
