Speaker at Diabetes Support Group

Wed, 07/19/2017 - 9:15am

Ophthalmologist Dr. Kaitlyn Nolan will discuss how diabetes can affect eyes at the Diabetes Support Group meeting on Thursday, July 27 from 1:15 to 2:15 p.m. The group will meet in the Diabetes Education Room on the third floor of the LincolnHealth - Miles Campus.

Diabetic eye disease comprises a group of eye conditions that diabetics may experience as a complication, all of which can cause severe vision loss or even blindness. Diabetic retinopathy, a common diabetic eye disease, is the leading cause of blindness in American adults, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Dr. Nolan will provide recommendations on how to keep eyes healthy when you have diabetes. She practices at Lincoln Medical Partners Ophthalmology in Newcastle.
