Three things

Early spring in Omaha

My son texted me a Weather Channel graphic showing us that it was 76F in Omaha, Nebraska on Monday. I know he was being kind and happy that spring is coming fast to the Midwest but my wife, who is tired of the cold and wet weather, “kiddingly” took it as a “rub it in our face” gesture. I have to admit I am jealous, considering that we haven’t gotten to enjoy such weather yet – not even close. As I write this on Tuesday morning, temperatures were supposed to come close to 50 but on Thursday, with the wind chill, temperatures were supposed to hover around zero. Weird weather pattern. Hopefully we don’t match the photos on my phone in March. On March 5 last year, I took photos of the March 4 storm which dumped about a foot of snow.

March Madness

One good thing about March is the NCAA basketball tournaments (men’s and women’s). A friend of mine suggested we get a few national holidays to watch the “madness.” I am all for that! The brackets come out soon so start thinking about the possible upsets and the first Top Four seed to be sent back to their campus!

Fixing copy

One of the things I have to do most when editing copy is changing AM, PM, am, pm, etc. to a.m. and p.m. when dealing with specific hours. We adhere to the Associated Press stylebook for the most part. Just wanted to put that out there for people submitting copy … to save me a few seconds during my work week.

Have a good week.
