First responders are at the scene of a truck accident on Route 27 in Edgecomb near Edgecomb Potters as of around 2:30 p.m.

A large Coastal Bait truck was heading into Boothbay Harbor from Portland when it suddenly came upon a UPS truck, stopped, waiting to make a left-hand turn. The driver of the bait truck, Henry Cain of Windham, said he applied the brakes but realized he was not going to be able to stop before hitting the UPS truck.

Cain made the decision to drive off the road to avoid running into it, and his truck went down a small embankment and settled on its side.
"If I had run into him it would have pushed him into oncoming traffic (heading toward Route 1).”

    Cain was uninjured.

A responder on the scene said Cain avoided what would have been a "bad accident."

Traffic is being held up until the scene is cleared.
