A Waldoboro man has been arrested on two sex charges. On Friday, Nov. 20, Lincoln County sheriff’s detectives arrested Adam McDonough, 48, in connection with charges of sexual abuse and unlawful sexual contact that allegedly took place in Damariscotta.  McDonough was charged with Sexual Abuse of a Minor (Class C) and Unlawful Sexual Contact.

These charges result from an investigation by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and the Damariscotta Police Department into a report that a 14-year-old boy had allegedly been sexually assaulted by a man he met and befriended over the past year and allegedly knew only as “Adam.”

An extensive investigation was conducted, including surveillance of the area where the assault had allegedly occurred.  Through their efforts, investigators located and identify the suspect as Adam McDonough.

After questioning, McDonough was arrested and transported to Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset.  He was later released on $2,000 bail, with conditions that he have no contact with the alleged victim or any children under the age of 18 years old.

Anyone with further information relating to this investigation is asked to contact Detective Scott Hayden at 207-882-7332.
