On Sunday, Nov. 19 at about 9:39 a.m., Sagadahoc County Regional Communications received a request to conduct a welfare check on Edward "Ted" Berrett, 70, who lives alone at 63 Beaver Brook in West Bath. Berrett had not been heard from since Friday, Nov. 17 and had missed several appointments. His home was found to be open and lights were on.

Berrett was last been seen at about 7 p.m. Friday, a short distance from his home. At the time, he was wearing pants, but no shirt or jacket.

Deputies along with members of the Maine Warden Service have begun conducting an investigation and a search of the area. Canine units were called in from local law enforcement as well as Maine Search and Rescue.

The search was suspended Sunday evening, with plans to resume Monday morning.

Sheriff Joel Merry said, “We are very concerned for the well-being of Mr Berrett. While there is nothing suspicious, we are worried about his lack of contact with family and friends at this time.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Office at 443-8201.
