Dear Editor:

Two out of three voters want the border secured, a 65% margin. Over three years ago, shortly after taking office, President Biden terminated Trump’s effective border security policy. Today, 85% of Republicans, 42% of Democrats and 59% of unaffiliated voters agree that Biden’s policy is a “catastrophe.” Their opinion is shaped and supported by headlines noting 50,000 illegal crossings in a five day period and 37,000 Chinese apprehended last year (an annual increase of 5,000 %).

I believe most voters understand that it is a failure to enforce existing laws that have put us here. Recently, Republicans voted to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas for his handling of the border. The Democrats are claiming this is an unnecessary and political decision. I believe it is the only recourse left after the disastrous policy for the last three years. The option is to wait for an administration change almost a year away or a change of heart in the Biden White House. The “will of the people” is a safe country with a secure border. Are you listening Washington?
