Winterfest thank you’s

Tue, 02/13/2018 - 10:30am

    Dear Editor:

Winter is almost halfway over and we are happy to say our Winterfest weekend was truly a huge success! It was estimated that approximately 400 people came out over the course of the weekend to enjoy the festivities. No event of this size could be implemented without the collaboration of many community groups and individuals who come together for one cause: to create a family event for the community to be enjoyed by all.

To the First, and Carl M.P. Larrabee Insurance Agency for being our “Blizzard” sponsors and making sure that the skies were lit up Saturday night for our annual winter fireworks show; to Ames True Value Supply for sponsoring us at the “Nor’easter” level and to Wiscasset Newspaper for being a “Flurry” sponsor. Special thanks to the Wiscasset Fire Department for putting on a great pancake breakfast, and to the Cooper Di-Perri Scholarship Committee for feeding us dinner that night at their annual spaghetti dinner!

Many thanks go to the following groups for their in-kind activities that they offered:

Chewonki Foundation for building our winter shelter and camping exhibit; and also, for their lively animal presentation. Morris Farm staff for their bird feeder-making and ice cream-making demonstration; the Wiscasset Sno-Goers for providing free snowmobile rides throughout the afternoon and to the Midcoast Conservancy for providing snowshoes and cross country skiing!

And to our volunteers who helped throughout the day: Joan Barnes and Jim Crowley, The Wiscasset Area Chamber of Commerce, Pat and Russ Cloutier, Josh Golden, Monique McCrae, Randy Cruz and staff at the Camden National Bank, the WCC staff and to all who attended and made it a great day!

    Now, we are onto spring!
