Wiscasset chamber celebrates another year

Mon, 03/13/2017 - 1:15pm

Eighty members turned out for Wiscasset Area Chamber of Commerce’s sixth annual dinner. The Feb. 2 event at the 1812 Farm in Bristol was a fabulous evening for all.

Guest speaker was WCSH6 midcoast reporter Don Carrigan. A silent auction with wonderful donated items brought in over $1,000 for the chamber’s scholarship fund.  The scholarship is awarded to a local high school graduate continuing their education in business.  Last year’s recipient was Samual Storer of Wiscasset.

This year’s well-deserving winners of chamber awards were: Chairman's Award - Sprague's Lobster; Community Impact- Carl M P Larrabee Agency; Volunteer of the Year- Lucia Droby; Growth & Development- 1. Island Sign Works  and 2. Peregrine Turbine Technologies; and Lifetime Achievement- Judy Flanagan.

New board members voted in at the dinner included Flanagan, James Crowley, Dana Browne and Wiscasset Town Planner Ben Averill.

We are very proud to be 6 years old, as a chamber with an enthusiastic board, membership and community that pull together to continue the growth of this organization. Upcoming events include the Kayak Regatta, Scarecrow Fest and Holiday Market Place that we plan to build on for 2017.  Continuing for this year will be our Business After Hours Networking and The Alive on the River Concerts.   The information center on the pier brought in visitors last summer from many states and countries.  We plan to have it open as soon as warm weather arrives.

Volunteers are always welcome and needed to continue the success of the chamber.  If interested in volunteering for or joining the chamber, please call 207-882-9600 or email info@wiscassetchamber.com.
