The next community supper on Wednesday, Oct. 4 at 5 pm will feature New England boiled dinner with veggies, bread and cake for dessert. October birthdays will be celebrated after the meal. Reservations for the supper must be made by noon on Monday, Oct. 2 by calling 882-8230. Chicken is available as an alternative entree but must be specified with the meal reservation. All are welcome!

In order to keep costs down for the community suppers, it is important to note that if you have made a meal reservation but are unable to attend the meal, please call 882-8230 to cancel your reservation.

Mark your calendars and save the date for the next community supper on Wednesday, Oct. 18 featuring smoked prime rib as the entree. Also, CHANS Home Health and Hospice will be on hand on Oct. 18 from 4:30-5:30 for a flu shot clinic. A donation of $25 or insurance will be accepted.

“Lunch with Lisa,” a new feature at the Wiscasset Community Center (WCC), is an ongoing monthly lunch and brainstorming session with Director Lisa Thompson focusing on how the WCC can better serve the older adults in our community. The cost for the lunch is $8 with a minimum of six participants and a maximum of 50. To get an accurate head count, reservations for “Lunch with Lisa” must be made by calling 882-8230. Future dates include Mondays, Oct. 30, Nov. 27 and Dec. 18.

Silver Sneakers, a program available to seniors age 65 and over, is being unveiled at the Wiscasset Community Center. This program, offered through various insurance providers allows participating members a free gym membership to more than 13,000 gym and fitness centers across the nation. It also includes WCC offered classes such as Waterworks, Yoga and Zumba.
