Don’t go to the Wiscasset town office Monday, Oct. 5. It’s closed due to a lack of power, Selectmen’s Chairman Ben Rines Jr. said.

The work Central Maine Power is doing to replace a transformer was planned, so that the town can run the government-surplus generator it got from New Hampshire several months ago, Rines said.

Advance plans had called for the town office to be able to be open Monday, with the use of a generator from the town’s sewage treatment plant, he said.

However, it turned out that that generator couldn’t adequately power the town office, so employees were sent home and the office was closed for the day, Rines said.
