River Arts has opened its West Gallery to the the Women Artists of Midcoast Maine, a group of women from the Belfast area who banded together several years ago to support and promote their artwork. All have different backgrounds and unique styles, but their unity comes from their love of, and commitment to, art.

Oils, acrylics, encaustic, and watercolor, and media pieces will be on display in the West Gallery at River Arts in Damariscotta through Dec. 12. An opening reception, from 5-7 p.m., on Friday, Dec. 1 will offer a chance to meet and talk with the artists.

The Women Artists of Midcoast Maine is composed of Kay Carter, Judy Graebert, Janake Howard, Summer J. Hart, JoAnne Houlsen, Deborah Jellison, Leecia Price, Debbie Mitchell, Suzanne G. Roberts and Betty Schopmeyer.

River Arts, located at 241 U.S. Route 1 in Damariscotta,  is open Tuesday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sundays.
