 “Battle of the Sexes”  - The 1973 tennis match between women's World #1 Billie Jean King (Emma Stone) and ex-men's-champ and serial hustler Bobby Riggs (Steve Carell) was billed as the “Battle of the Sexes" and became one of the most watched televised sports events of all time, reaching 90 million viewers worldwide. As the rivalry between King and Riggs kicked into high gear, off-court each was fighting more personal and complex battles. The fiercely private King was not only championing for equality, but also struggling to come to terms with her own sexuality, as her friendship with Marilyn Barnett (Andrea Riseborough) developed. And Riggs, one of the first self-made media-age celebrities, wrestled with his gambling demons, at the expense of his family and wife Priscilla (Elisabeth Shue). Rated PG-13. “Loving Vincent” - Billed as the first ever hand-painted live action movie, “Loving Vincent” is actually an animated murder mystery that integrates Vincent Van Gogh’s landscapes and portraits with live-action footage of actors. The detective story investigates whether Van Gogh actually shot himself or was murdered. Narrator Armand Roulin (Douglas Booth) takes Van Gogh’s last letter to Paris to his younger brother Theo, only to find out from the artist’s paint supplier Pere Tanguy (John Sessions) that Theo died shortly after his brother’s death. Tanguy fills him in on the history of Vincent’s transformation from an unemployed failure to the world’s most prolific impressionist painter. Rated PG. Screening Thursday, Nov. 9 at 7 p.m., Friday, Nov. 10 at 2 p.m.

“Blade Runner 2049” - A sequel to the 1982 film Blade Runner, this 2017 neo-noir science fiction film directed by Denis Villeneuve and written by Hampton Fancher and Michael Green stars Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford, with Ana de Armas, Sylvia Hoeks, Robin Wright, Mackenzie Davis, Carla Juri, Lennie James, Dave Bautista and Jared Leto in supporting roles. A new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what's left of society into chaos. K's discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.

“Blade Runner 2049” is rated R. It screens at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 10, Saturday, Nov. 12 and Wednesday, Nov. 15; and at 2 and 7 on Sunday, Nov. 13.

“Fall Back on Broadway” - The Y-Arts youth performers from the CLC and Boothbay Region YMCAs for an evening of theatre fun with songs from “The Lion King,” “Wicked”, and other Broadway favorites.  This special evening will be performed by the Y-Arts Music Theatre Workshop, Music Theatre Dance Class, and students of the Y-Arts Voice Studio. NT Live: “Follies” -  Stephen Sondheim’s legendary musical is staged for the first time at the National Theatre and broadcast live from the London stage.  It’s New York, 1971. There’s a party on the stage of the Weismann Theatre. Tomorrow the iconic building will be demolished. Thirty years after their final performance, the Follies girls gather to have a few drinks, sing a few songs and lie about themselves. Runtime: 2 hours, 35 minutes; no intermission.
