FARMS presents: Kids in the Kitchen in December

It’s holiday cooking time! Fall and winter are a great time to get everyone involved in the kitchen. Join FARMS’ educator, Leslie Wicks, and Youth Program Director, Karen Kleinkopf, for a fall class, meet some new friends and make delicious, healthy food. All classes will use seasonal local foods and will be held in the FARMS Community Kitchen.

Family Chef's Healthy Holiday Appetizers: Dec. 1 5-7 p.m. This class is for children ages 7-12 accompanied by an adult. Recipes will include healthy appetizers using locally grown vegetables that will compliment any holiday gathering. Adults and children will work side by side to learn new cooking skills and try new foods. Cost: $15 per family

Young Chef's Squish Squash: Dec. 2 9-11 a.m. This class is for children ages 7-12. Recipes will explore the many ways to enjoy winter squash in savory and sweet dishes. Children will learn about different winter squashes and how to prepare them. Cost: $15 per child and $10 per sibling

Young Chef's Dynamite Desserts: Dec. 9 9-11 a.m. This class is for children ages 7-12. Recipes will include healthy desserts that children can make at home. Holiday desserts don't have to be loaded with sugar to satisfy everyone's sweet tooth. Cost: $15 per child and $10 per sibling

Teen Chef's Holiday Dishes: Dec. 15 5-7 p.m. This class is for children ages 13-18. Recipes will include healthy main and side dishes to enhance any holiday spread. Being part of the cooking during the holidays can be rewarding and empowering for young chefs. Cost: $15 per child and $10 per sibling

After confirmation, please send your name, phone number, email address and a check made out to FARMS to P.O. Box 421, Damariscotta, ME 04543 or drop off payment and registration information in the green mailbox upstairs at the FARMS Community Kitchen, 323 Main St., Damariscotta (enter Rising Tide Market, take a right after the produce section, go through the FARMS door and proceed up the stairs).
