To get you in the mood for the holidays, the Harbor Theater is showing a Christmas favorite, the 1947 original version of “Miracle on 34th Street,” starring Maureen O'Hara, Edmund Gwynn and Natalie Wood.

Turner Classic Movies is perhaps the only venue where movie fans will have the chance to see this classic gem. Take this opportunity to spend some downtime away from the holiday preparations at the Harbor Theater with the younger members of your families, because this film is one everyone should experience.

Kris Kringle (Edmund Gwynn), seemingly the embodiment of Santa Claus, is asked to portray the jolly old fellow at Macy's following his performance in the Thanksgiving Day parade. His supervisor (Maureen O'Hara) soon begins having second thoughts about hiring Kris; his portrayal of Santa Claus is so complete that many begin to question if he truly is Santa while others question his sanity. Kris works not only to restore Doris' belief in Santa Claus but make her young daughter's (Natalie Wood) wishes come true, all while trying to prove his identity in a court of law.

See this on the big screen – sure to be a first for many! “Miracle on 34th Street” plays Thursday, Dec. 21 at 7 p.m. and Friday, Dec. 22 at 2 p.m. All tickets for Thursday and Friday matinees are $6 (membership discounts do not apply), otherwise regular ticket prices apply.

The Harbor Theater is at 185 Townsend Ave., in Boothbay Harbor. For more information, visit https://boothbaycinema.org or call 633-0438.
