It all began in 2000, five to eight galleries hosted receptions for an event called Art Along The Avenues.  The dates were set up to coincide with the art receptions of the Boothbay Region Art Foundation's show calendar.

This was followed by hosting art tours on the last Friday of each month, known as the “Last Friday Art Tour” but, it was not highly successful.

In 2002, the decision was made to adapt to the nationwide “First Fridays."

Since then, the First Friday Art Tour often has 16 or more galleries participating in the afternoon and evening hours - perfect for an art crawl. Studios and galleries offer new exhibits, have guest artists on hand, hold demonstrations, art talks and refreshments.

The Boothbay Region Art Foundation serves as an umbrella for the art outreach, education, and opportunity to show artwork in a professional setting.

Alison Evans/AeHome is showing new work by several artists this Sept.: Alyce Paul's new jewelry, Doug Gimbel's latest totems, Kim Villard's new small prints.

And, Evans’ ceramics reflecting the natural forms of her environment – oyster and clam shells, barnacles, and sea urchins – became bowls, vases, and serving pieces. The allure lies in the essence of natural forms without duplication. Further enhancing her work, Alison developed glazes to mimic nature’s movement, grace, and individuality.
