Wiscasset Public Library is pleased to announce it has received a generous grant from the Stephen and Tabitha King Foundation of $25,000 to purchase a metal roof. The roof will be one and one half inch standing seam with 24 gauge steel construction.

This is the third grant the library has received from the King Foundation. The library was granted $25,000 in 2004 to upgrade the electronics and install a new network throughout the building. In 2007, the library received $50,000 that enabled it to repoint the brick and paint the exterior, replace several windows and complete a list of other repairs that were needed. This third grant brings the total to $100,000.

The foundation’s generosity is well=known to libraries around the state. Wiscasset Public Library is extremely fortunate and grateful that the King Foundation has been so supportive of the library’s needs and the needs of our patrons.

This grant was sought in keeping with the library’s ongoing efforts to seek outside funding of capital projects, to minimize requests for town funding.
