Beelicious has moved, but not too far.

Monica Carrington, who opened her store last spring at 64 Main St. in Wiscasset, recently moved a few doors north, to 60 Main St., after the owner of her precious space decided to sell the building.

The store, which started out selling honey, jams, coffee and local and imported specialty foods from Europe, has made a few changes. Lots of gift items have been added to the inventory.

One thing that has remained a constant is the honeybee theme, and honey. Pretty much everything in the shop is bee-related. Many of the honey products are from Bee Raw, a company that works with family honey farmers from all over the country. Bee Raw bottles and distributes it, and helps protect honeybees by donating a part of its profits to the Save the Bee Fund.

Summer’s Skin skincare products are also featured at Beelicious. The company, in Big Pine, California, produces all-natural creams and lotions. Beelicious is the only store on the East Coast that sells her products, Carrington said. “She has her own bees, and she incorporates honey and beeswax in all her lotions, body butters, and body washes.”

The shop has beeswax candles and cards with a honeybee theme, prints and paintings, too. And the store recently started carrying a line of freshly baked confections from a new business in Wiscasset, Mammy’s Bakery. Mammy’s specializes in Italian breads and cookies, and a variety of whoopie pies, the newest being a honey whoopie pie with raspberry cream cheese filling.

There’s plenty to hold your attention inside the new store, but even if you don’t have time to browse around, you should take a few minutes to check out the window displays. Carrington takes great pleasure and pride in making them fun and interesting.

“As a kid growing up in Chicago we’d always go to the Magnificent Mile at Christmastime to look at the window displays. The storefront window area in this space was a huge selling point for me, and I’ll change it up every few months, and just have fun with it.”

Carrington said she got lucky when Coastal Gifts, another gift store in Wiscasset, moved to Florida and was selling its furniture – chests and hutches that fit perfectly in her new store and are being put to good use to display her wide array of gift items.

With winter beginning, Carrington is already looking forward to changing her inventory in spring. “I want to bring in my farm table, garden seeds, and garden-related things. I’ll have seeds that are great for hummingbirds, and butterflies, and of course bees.”

Until then, Beelicious will remain open all winter.
