Disappointment

Dear Editor:

I've taught 6-, 7- and 8-year-old children that to be silent when others are being verbally attacked and to be a bystander can be harmful, gives the impression it is okay and allows the behavior to continue. I feel the need to say something.

Change can be hard! This seems true for our town of Wiscasset. A business owner recently moved out and left a graphic picture in the storefront window and targeted two respected community members and MDOT. This was meant to shock, embarrass and bully these folks because they had different opinions from those opposing the downtown design. I’m hopeful that others that oppose the downtown design will step up and object to this form of bullying! This attacking of others is not what we want in this town is it?
