Flooding due to water drip closed Wiscasset town office Wednesday

Open Thursday on Route 1 side only

The Wiscasset Town Office was closed Wednesday when Public Works employee Steve Christiansen arrived at 4:30 a.m. and discovered the floor flooded up to the parking lot door.

Christiansen said a valve in the employee bathroom had apparently been dripping all night. The water caused damage to the sheetrock and flooding on the floors and carpets in some rooms. Public Works employees worked all day to solve the issue and restore the building.

The cleanup company Servepro arrived to help dry out the building. By 4:30 p.m., its floor dryers were still running.

The town office will be open on Thursday, but only in the front of the building. Visitors will have to enter from the Route 1 side of the building, and conduct business at the window.
