Help Yourself Shelf Food Pantry ‘Grab ’n Go’ Dec. 20

Mon, 12/17/2018 - 9:15am

Help Yourself Shelf Food Pantry at St. Philip’s Church in Wiscasset, 12 Hodge St., will be hosting a ‘Grab ’n Go’ pantry on Thursday, Dec. 20, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Possible choices will include items for the holiday table, as well as the usual weekly offerings.

As 2018 wraps up, the Help Yourself Shelf expresses its thanks for all those who have donated to its effort to ease hunger among our most vulnerable part of the population. Special shout-outs to BIW, Shaw’s of Wiscasset, Hannaford stores in Damariscotta and Boothbay Harbor, The First Congregational Church of Wiscasset, the Masons, the Wiscasset Rod and Gun Club, The First of Damariscotta, Midcoast Federal Credit Union, Twin Village Foodbank Farm and Merrymeeting Gleaners for their continued and important support. Also to be thanked are those who donate their returnables to our bins at the Wiscasset Transfer Station.  With those funds, the Shelf is able to purchase a steady supply of personal care products from local stores.

Donations of items allow clients variety in their choices and are always appreciated. The Shelf, a GSFB partner agency, is also able to maximize donated funds' purchasing power through ordering from Good Shepherd Food Bank.

Please consider making a year-end donation. A check made out to Help Yourself Shelf and sent to St. Philip’s Church, 12 Hodge St., Wiscasset 04578, will help the pantry stock the shelves during the winter months when donations are traditionally thin and when the pantry sees an increase in its clientele.
