Holiday season fundraising

The season of giving is a time for fundraising for area causes. Groups were out Saturday greeting Route 1, Wiscasset shoppers at a local business and American Legion Post 54’s hall.

The post put on a book sale offering table after table of selections. Cmdr. William Cossette Jr. said they were donated to the post. The sale was benefiting the post’s various programs, Legion member John Kennedy said. Remaining books were going to Togus in Augusta for veterans to enjoy, Kennedy said.

Inside Ames Supply, Feed Our Scholars had a bake sale for the program that provides backpacks of weekend food for local food-insecure children. And outside the business, Lincoln Lodge 3 of Fort Hill Street in Wiscasset was collecting donations via its annual Christmas Cement Mixer Fund Drive. Lodge representatives said members plan to be back at Ames Supply this Saturday, Dec. 9.
