The LincolnHealth Emergency Department is hosting the third annual Emergency Medical Services (EMS) basket raffle during National EMS Week, May 20-26. Funds raised will go toward a scholarship fund for paramedic students who are employed by an EMS agency that serves Lincoln County.

“The emergency department and our education committee started this annual scholarship fund in 2016 as a way to give back and support the EMS professionals and the vital role they play in our community,” explained LincolnHealth emergency department nurse Paula Quintal Sprague, RN. “We are proud of our local EMS services, their work in the community, and grateful for the care they afford our patients.”

The annual EMS basket raffle features a variety of themed baskets, which are donated by various departments at LincolnHealth. Some of this year’s themes include Camping, Maine Made, Down on Main Street, Instapot, Spa Day, Bacon, Pet Supplies, Vacationland, and more.

Tickets may be purchased in the Family Room near the entrance of the hospital from 9 am to 2 pm and 5 pm to 8:30 pm Sunday through Saturday, May 20-26. The drawing will be on Sunday, May 27 at 10 am. Winners will be notified by phone. Tickets are one for $1, six for $5, or 15 for $10.

The first annual LincolnHealth Emergency Department EMS Scholarship Award was presented to Devan Clark in the amount of $1,500 on November 11, 2017. At the time, Devan was a paramedic student. He is now a nationally certified licensed paramedic and works with Central Lincoln County Ambulance Service. The next scholarship will be presented in November 2018.

The Emergency Department will also host a bottle drive later this year with all monies going to the scholarship fund.
