Mammy’s Bakery teams up with Beelicious

Mammy’s Bakery owner Jessica Deshiro and Monica Janczewski-Carrington of the shop, Beelicious, in Wiscasset have joined forces.

Beelicious at 60 Main St. offers honey and honeybee-related products, many from Bee Raw, a company that works with family honey farmers from all over the country and donates a part of its profits to the Save the Bee Fund.

Mammy’s Bakery is a new Wiscasset business and Carrington started carrying some of Deshiro’s baked goods around a month ago. The bakery specializes in Italian breads and cookies, whoopie pies, cupcakes and other sweet and savory confections. It’s named after Deshiro’s grandmother, who she calls Mammy.

And because Mammy is battling Alzheimer’s disease, Deshiro donates 10 percent of her proceeds to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.

Now Deshiro and Carrington have teamed up and are sharing the store.

Beginning with a three-day grand 0pening event Jan. 18, the two business owners filled part of the store with a big display of Deshiro’s Italian baked goods. Free cupcakes and samples were offered and there were raspberry lemon scones, chocolate canolli whoopie pies, muffins, granola, and croissants with turkey, Swiss cheese, and pesto. There were also some ricotta cookies with a chocolate ganache.

Mammy’s will be popping up at Beelicious Thursdays through Saturdays for the foreseeable future, at least throughout the winter. Check for menu updates on Beelicious and Mammy’s Bakery Facebook pages each Thursday, Friday and Saturday. For more information, call 207-687-8234 or 207-504-4104.
