A Boston concert may be missed but no one was hurt shortly after noon Monday when a car and pickup truck collided on Wiscasset's Route 1, authorities and the drivers said at the scene.

Chris Cope of Dresden said he was driving his 1998 Toyota Camry northbound and slowed because traffic was backed up near Camden National Bank and the set of lights at the Routes 1 and 27 intersection. "The next thing I knew I'm looking at my airbag."

He was planning to attend a "Pillars" concert in Boston Tuesday night. "But that's not happening." Looking toward his car on the flatbed of Blagden's Wrecker Service in the bank parking lot, he said the car is likely totaled.

Wiscasset's Steve Bonang said he didn't see the car when he was pulling out of the bank lot in his 2007 Chevy Silverado. The truck is drivable and he can work on it at his body shop, Bonang said.

Wiscasset Fire and Police Departments and Wiscasset Ambulance Service responded, Assistant Fire Chief Chris Cossette said. The crash occurred in front of the three departments. The accident caused only property damage, Cossette said.

He said traffic was stopped briefly then both lanes were re-opened. The vehicles were out of the road before 1 p.m.

Wiscasset Police Chief Jeff Lange later said no citations were issued. He said Cope was trying to go around another pickup that stopped to let Bonang’s truck exit the bank.
