River Arts’ call to artists

“Summertime” exhibition deadline is July 7

River Arts in Damariscotta is inviting artists throughout Maine to submit artwork for jurying in its upcoming exhibition, “Summertime.” Artists can submit up to three works in any medium including sculpture, photography, collage, painting, ceramics, fiber and fine craft — representational or abstract. Work can be delivered anytime during gallery hours until the deadline, which is Saturday, July 7 at 4 p.m. An opening reception will be held from 5-7 p.m., Friday, July 13   5-7 p.m.

The juror for this show will  be Bob Keyes. Bob Keyes writes about the visual and performing arts for the Portland Press Herald/Maine Sunday Telegram. He appreciates that his job requires him to visit museums and attend plays and concerts across Maine, and most enjoys interviewing artists in their studios. He’s a New Englander by birth, and has lived in Maine off and on, most recently since 2002. He lives in Berwick with his wife, Vicki, and their son Luke

Artists may submit up to three works for an entry fee of $15 for members and $25 for nonmembers. Artists will be notified by email or phone of the juror’s decision. Submissions may not have been shown at River Arts previously. Entry forms are available online at riverartsme.org and at the gallery, at 241 U.S. Route 1 in Damariscotta, when submitting. All works must have artist’s name on the back. Gallery hours are Tuesday - Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday 10 am. to 2 p.m.
